A RELIC FROM THE APOSTLES' SEA

It is only 15 minutes drive from the hotel to Ginosar, a place mentioned as Gennesaret in the bible.  It appeared a few times in the New Testament and is the place where Jesus first called Peter (the fisherman originally named Simon) (Luke 5:1-11).

The Yigal Allon Center

The Yigal Allon Center in Ginosar has an ancient ship exhibit, containing a 2000-year-old wooden boat salvaged from the bottom of Galilee—a common fishing boat in the area during Jesus' time.

The exhibit periodically plays a documentary about the discovery, salvage, and placement of this ancient ship; outside the exhibit, there is a small boat model in a glass case.

You may notice this entry is shorter than others. I wrestled with the decision, contemplating whether to expand its biblical context or combine it with the next site. In the end, I resolved to uphold the structure of this pilgrimage: one place, one chapter. This 'rule of the road' ensures the journey's map remains clear and consistent for every reader—including my future self.

DIVINE MULTIPLICATION & RESTORATION

Just a short distance from Ginosar, the site of Tabgha commemorates two profound events that anchor Christian faith and mission. It is first the traditional location of the Miracle of the Multiplication, and then the site where the resurrected Jesus appeared to His disciples, commissioning Peter with the charge, 'Feed my lambs... Tend my sheep' (John 21:1-19).
