In the past twelve years, and especially during the quietude of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of these churches have undergone extensive renovation with the participation of historians, researchers, and architects. The Shanghai municipality has supported this conservation initiative as part of a broader effort to preserve the city's multifaceted cultural heritage.

Sunday Worship in Shanghai Community Church

​My home church is the Shanghai Community Church, which is about a 20-minute walk from my home. Like most of the major downtown churches, it holds more than one service every Sunday, providing a spiritual home to which thousands of believers can return each week.​
